Might have to put off next cycle

We are supposed to start injectables whenever my next cycle starts, im on CD23 now, but didn't ovulate, I have to call on day 28 if I dont start by then. So, anyway, when I start I am to be on injectables. We are buying a house, and we have to do some repairs before closing, which will really take up most of our extra money that we would be using for the cycle :( I am just afraid if we put it off, 1 cycle will turn into 2 and so on. Last time we held off a cycle to start injectables, (different RE), we just kept trying for a year on our own, before consulting again, and then switching RE's. So I really dont want to put it off....home closing vs. hopefully getting pregnant....that is a really close call. One is way more practical than the other!

Cycle 2

Here we are on our second assisted cycle. The plan is the same as last cycle, femara cd 3-7, hcg trigger, and IUI.

This cycle, my mid cycle scan would be on day 12, instead of 11 like last time, due to the weekend. I was excited, since I would get to see the follicles a little bigger that last time, and maybe get an idea of how many mm they grew each day. Silly thinking on my part, ha! On CD 12, I only had one on each side, 11 and 13. Great, they were smaller than last time. I have to go back in 2 days for another scan.

CD 14, sizes 12 and 13...come back in 2 days.

CD 16, sizes 12 and 12. Great, one stayed the same and one shrunk. My cycle was cancelled. Starting follistim next cycle.

First IUI cycle

My last cycle I was on femara  cd 3-7.  I had alot of pinching pain in my ovaries, starting around cd 9, so I was hoping it meant it was working. I went into my cd 11 scan, hoping for atleast 2 good follicles, but my body never does anything right, so I wasn't very optimistic.

Dr started spounting off numbers to the nurse, and she did calculations and told him the final number. I listened, trying to make a mental note so I could see how many there was, surely not more than 2. I listend, right ovary, 12, 12, 17....!! Left ovary, 13, 15!! They said the 15 and 17 would for sure be ready by the time we did the IUI, but the 13 most likely will too. So, my thinking is, if the 13 could catch up, the 12's had a good chance too!

I triggered the next day, cd 12 at midnight. I went on cd 14 for my first IUI. The sperm count wasn't as good as I hoped, dr. said between 2 mil and 10 mil. I'm not sure why he didn't give me a more specific number?? They did say they were "swimming" well because they used something that gives them a boost.

After the IUI, I went home and rested the rest of the day. I tried to rest alot for the next few days.

On 8 dpo, I had alot of cramping, I was hoping is was implantation cramping.

I tested out the trigger shot, I was still getting BFP 12 days past the trigger, so I was hoping that it was just going to stay positive, but then the next 2 days a bfn and later that day, cd 14, AF showed :(  On to the next cycle

Our journey so far

When we first started TTC, it was more of a not trying not preventing for a while. Then, we started trying a little more and a little more. After a year, I talked to my regular gyn, and he did blood work and put me on femara for 5 days, (and referred me to the fertility Dr at that clinic). Then according to my blood work, i ovulated, but did not get pg. Next cycle, femara again, but no ovulation.

More blood work was done and I was told our only option would be femara combined with follistim and IUI. He ordered a SA for DH first though, just to make sure everything was ok on his end. It wasn't, we were told less than 5 mil live sperm :( And he had to see a urologist before going any further.

So, we go see the urologist and he is literally a complete jerk! He told us that if we really wanted a baby we would lose weight. He asked how much weight we had lost during this journey and we said not really any, so he said, "then maybe you don't want this as bad as you think", mind you, my DH was not overweight, and i was overweight, but not by any means overweight enough to be told that! He also said that couples our age should not seek help until we had tried on our own for 3 years! We left there so mad, we just took some time off hoping it would happen on its own. We waited almost another year, and saw the fertility specialist again. He looked over my previous blood work and said he had missed it before, but I am insulin resistant, and need to be on metformin. He also ordered another SA.  The result this time, zero live sperm. This is when I decided to switch to an actual fertility clinic.

At the new clinic, they did bw on both of us. They repeated the SA and the result was 17 mil!!! I also had a HSG, and all was clear!! This was so good to hear, because we had all but given up hope after leaving the last dr.

The next cycle we started our femara, hcg and IUI cycle. I will write about that in my next post :)

Introduction

Hi, my name is Nikki, my wonderful husband is Nathan. We have an amazing 4 yeard old daughter, (mine from previous relationship) Lilyanna.

We decided to start trying for another baby on Lily's second birthday. We thought it would take a couple months, but never imagined it would be so difficult. Someday we will give Lily a baby brother or sister, one way or another, just hoping it is sooner rather than later!
